I can’t say enough about how happy I am with the incredible pondless waterfall that Kevin Cummings, Bill, and Jay from Bayview Nurseries created for us! We had an old, defunct pond in our backyard that I had always hoped to transform into a pondless waterfall. Kevin had the wonderful idea to use the existing stone from the old pond to create the new feature, which not only preserved the character of the space but also saved us money. Bill and Jay’s attention to detail was exceptional, but what stood out just as much was how incredibly kind and accommodating they were throughout the entire project. When the job was initially completed, they were not completely happy with the water output. Rather than settling for something they felt was less than perfect, they returned to the nursery, ordered a different pump, and installed a temporary one in the meantime. When they came back to install the new pump, they continued tweaking the smallest details to make the waterfall even better. That level of creativity, pride, and dedication to a project is so hard to find. They even worked late to make sure everything was just right—and I truly wouldn’t change a thing! The best part is that this is only the beginning! In May 2027, Kevin’s beautiful landscape design will come to life with plantings around the waterfall, throughout the entire back garden bed, and in two front beds. I can’t wait to see his vision come together and make our entire yard even more spectacular! I highly, highly recommend Bayview Nurseries, Kevin, Bill, and Jay for your landscaping needs. Our History…
Bayview Garden Nurseries is a family owned and operated landscape design, installation and maintenance company.
Harry and Betty Cummings founded Bayview Garden Nurseries in 1952. Their home was in the Bayview tract section of Pleasantville, NJ. Hence, the name Bayview Garden Nurseries was born.
Harry began his business working out of the trunk of his car. His tools were a powerless push mower, hand shears, a spade and a broom. As the company grew, expansion became necessary. For that reason, they purchased an eight acre plot of land on Zion Road in Northfield, NJ. We continue to operate from this location today!
Harry and Betty continued to grow their business servicing all of South Jersey and from Atlantic, Cape May and Burlington counties. They established an offsite plant and gift shop in 1977. In addition, Betty began offering fresh floral designs in 1977 and hence the Bayview Florist was established.
When Harry & Betty retired in 1995, the company employed 10 people; consisting of one landscape crew, two lawn maintenance crews and the offsite florist shop.
On January 1, 1996, the 2nd generation of the Cummings family took over. Bruce, Bob and Bonnie Cummings took ownership of the company.
The Garden Center was redesigned in 1998. A new building was added to house garden center products, the florist shop and the landscape and maintenance offices. Furthermore, we’ve invested in new and improved equipment.
Finally, several key positions and additional personnel have been added. We have added another landscape crew as well as several additional maintenance crews. Our organization has grown to include 30 full time and seasonal associates.
The 3rd generation of the Cummings family entered the management team in late 2011. Bobby is currently our Lead Landscape Construction Foreman, Jason is our Lawn Maintenance & Irrigation Manager, Kevin is on of our Landscape Design team and also manages seasonal flower installations. Jon is our Pesticide Applicator and Bruce, Jr is one of our Landscape Maintenance Foremen.
Bayview Garden Nurseries is a diverse and dynamic Team. We are a high quality workforce who LOVE the outdoors and take pride in quality workmanship.
We hope to continue to grow as a family owned and operated landscape design, construction and maintenance company. Our roots have been in South Jersey for 71 years. As a result, we are now the oldest landscape design, construction and maintenance company in the area.
The Cummings family and the Bayview Team continue to educate ourselves in all aspects of the landscaping and horticultural industry. Therefore, our customers can have the confidence and trust that their experience with Bayview will be a positive one.
Likewise, the company operates today with the same small business integrity from which it was created. As a result, that has helped fuel our growth. We will continue striving to be the best provider of lawn and landscape services in South Jersey by offering an exceptional experience to each and every customer.

Several of our family members are active in the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company and Auxiliary. And the Bayview Garden Nurseries Team offers workshops throughout the season, and volunteer their time, and services in many community garden projects.
